LOOK FOR QUICK CHANGES IN SPEED LIMITS

Many rural roads go through rural towns, and those Main Street sections tend to have a lower speed limit than the rest of the road. You might even have to drop your speed by 10 miles per hour! There are usually extra signs that alert you to the upcoming change—but your best bet is to slow down in these areas anyway.

PRO TIP: Don’t think that sleepy towns will ignore speeders. Their police are dedicated to making sure drivers follow the law, and they’re happy to ticket those who don’t.
